Wizz Air, the most environmentally sustainable airline in the EMEA region, is pleased to announce a significant expansion of its operations in Poland, with the addition of a sixth aircraft to its base in Kraków and a seventh aircraft in Katowice. This strategic move reinforces the airline’s long-term commitment to the dynamic regions of Małopolska and Silesia, while significantly enhancing travel options for passengers through the launch of ten new direct routes to some of Europe’s most attractive destinations.
In Kraków, the newly based Airbus A321neo will support the launch of four new routes: to Bilbao (Spain), Verona (Italy), Vilnius (Lithuania), and Tallinn (Estonia). These additions offer travelers from Małopolska even more opportunities to enjoy seaside getaways, cultural city breaks, and explore charming European capitals.
In Katowice, Wizz Air is introducing its seventh Airbus A321neo, enabling the launch of six new routes: Porto and Faro (Portugal), Brindisi and Lamezia Terme (Italy), Brașov (Romania), and Maastricht (Netherlands). Flights to Porto will commence on 26 October 2025, while the remaining new services will begin in March 2026. These routes cater to a wide variety of traveler needs – from sun-soaked beaches to atmospheric cities ideal for a weekend escape.
This continued expansion in Kraków and Katowice marks another key milestone in Wizz Air’s long-term growth strategy in Poland. In the first half of 2025 alone, Wizz Air operated over 32,000 flights to and from Poland, representing a 9.3% increase compared to the same period last year. On-time performance reached 77.4%, up by 9.2% year-on-year. Since beginning operations in Poland, Wizz Air has carried over 120 million passengers, underscoring its strong commitment and the trust of Polish travelers.
Both newly deployed aircraft are Airbus A321neo – among the most modern and environmentally efficient aircraft in commercial aviation. These aircraft consume 20% less fuel, emit 20% less CO₂, and produce 50% less noise compared to previous-generation models. Wizz Air currently operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, with an average aircraft age of 4.58 years, two-thirds of which are A321neo models.
All new investments and routes are aligned with Wizz Air’s Customer First Compass – a three-year strategic initiative focused on creating more accessible, flexible, and passenger-friendly travel experiences.
Andras Szabo, Wizz Air’s Commercial Officer Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, commented: “Kraków and Katowice are important bases for our operations in Poland. With the addition of new aircraft, we can now offer travelers from the Małopolska and Silesia regions an even broader selection of exciting destinations — including Porto, Bilbao, Verona, Tallin or Brasov — all at affordable prices. We are proud to support the dynamic growth of these regions while making air travel more accessible and environmentally friendly.”
