THE AIRLINE GROWS BY 20% IN WARSAW, RECONFIRMS ITS LEADERSHIP AMONG LOW-COST CARRIERS
TWO NEW AIRCRAFT, FOUR NEW ROUTES, INCREASED FREQUENCIES ON 15 EXISTING ROUTES FROM THE CAPITAL NEXT SUMMER
Wizz Air, EMEA’s most environmentally sustainable airline*, today has announced further expansion of its Warsaw Chopin base with the addition of another state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft, marking a total of 14 Airbus aircraft to be based in Warsaw Chopin. Along with this investment, the airline will launch three new routes from the Polish capital, connecting it with Dortmund in Germany and Bucharest (Baneasa) in Romania, new countries unlocked from Warsaw, as well as with Pisa in Italy. Moreover, Wizz Air is increasing frequency of operations on its routes from Warsaw to Paris Orly, Malta, Chisinau, Catania and Naples. Tickets are already available on wizzair.com and the airline’s official app from only 109 PLN.
In total, two state-of-the art Airbus A321neo aircraft are set to join the Warsaw fleet in summer 2025, facilitating four new routes to Genoa and Pisa (Italy), Dortmund (Germany) and Bucharest (Romania), while enhancing connectivity with increased frequencies on 15 of Wizz Air’s existing routes from the capital. The airline will be bringing over 1,000,000 additional low fare seats to Warsaw next year, growing by over 20% compared to 2024.
Overall, Wizz Air will station four new aircraft to Poland next summer, growing its Polish fleet to 34 planes and increasing capacity by 10%. The airline will add 11 new routes to its Polish network and increase frequencies on dozens of existing popular connections.
This continuous investment reflects Wizz Air’s commitment to the Polish market and solidifies its leading position among the low-cost airlines at Warsaw Chopin Airport. This expansion supports Wizz Air’s ambitious “WIZZ 500” vision of 500 aircraft in the fleet. As part of Wizz Air’s sustainability commitment, the airline continues to operate one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets in the industry, reinforcing its position as a responsible leader.
Speaking at a press conference in Warsaw, Piotr Trawka, Wizz Air’s Network Officer, said: “Just a couple months after the first expansion announcement in Warsaw, we are happy to share that yet another aircraft will join our Chopin base next June, making it a total of 14 aircraft in the fleet. With four new connections, we will be now offering 59 routes to 26 countries from the capital. Yet Warsaw is not the only place of growth for us in Poland – new aircraft are coming to Katowice and Krakow, and altogether we are introducing 11 new routes from the country next year. As we grow, we are proud to further increase connectivity between Poland and the rest of Europe and beyond, while contributing to the Polish economy by creating direct and indirect jobs.”
Since its inaugural flight from Katowice to London Luton in 2004, Wizz Air has carried over 110 million passengers to and from Poland, establishing itself as a preferred choice for affordable travel. Today, Wizz Air offers a diverse network of 168 low-fare routes from 10 airports in Poland, connecting passengers to nearly 80 destinations across 28 countries. Over the 20 years of continuous growth the airline established 5 operational bases in the country in Gdańsk, Katowice, Kraków, Wrocław and Warsaw, employing over 1,200 employees in Poland, while indirectly supporting over 80,000 local jobs in related industries.
