Wizz Air unlocks direct connections to the Hungarian capital, adding the fourth route to its Bilbao network.
Wizz Air, Europe’s most sustainable airline, is expanding its network from Bilbao with a new route to the vibrant Hungarian capital, Budapest. Tickets are already available for purchase on wizzair.com and via the official WIZZ app, with fares starting at 29.99€2.
As the fastest growing airline in Spain, Wizz Air reaffirms its long-term commitment to the market. The airline will operate flights from Bilbao to Budapest two times a week: on Tuesdays and Saturdays, starting from 1 July 2025.
Budapest, often referred to as the “Pearl of the Danube”, captivates travellers with its centuries-old architecture, lively cultural scene, and world-famous thermal baths. From the UNESCO-listed Buda Castle and Chain Bridge to the vibrant ruin bars and bustling market halls, the Hungarian capital offers an unforgettable blend of history, relaxation, and modern urban life.
"This new route from Spain underscores our commitment to offer our passengers convenient and affordable travel options" – said Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communication Manager at Wizz Air – "We are very pleased to diversify our network and unlock a new direct connection from Bilbao to Budapest, adding to the existing routes to Warsaw, Vienna and Rome. This development will enhance travel opportunities for Spanish travellers, as well as provide more leisure and city break options, generating continuous passenger flow in both directions".
Wizz Air started operations to Spain in 2004 and is proud to currently offer a network of 104 routes to 25 destinations in 13 countries from the country, enhancing connectivity and travel options for both local residents and visitors. In 2024, the airline operated over 38,000 flights to and from Spain, carrying more than 7 million passengers, with 99,8% of the flights completed, one of the best rates in the industry.
